Victoria Doramus is a recovery expert who had to overcome her own addictions to alcohol and drugs. She says that she had to hit rock bottom before coming to grips with recovering and the process of doing so made her a stronger person.
She says it was in 2011 when she went to rehab for the first time. She was 26 at the time and living in Tucson, Arizona. Victoria Doramus (@iamvictorialynn) says she didn’t really know anything about addiction at the time but she could see that her life was in disarray. She was using Adderall and cocaine and spent a month and a half at Sierra Tuscon, a recovery facility.
The Trends expert then moved to Los Angeles. She says she had some new tools to help her but she still didn’t totally understand the disease of addiction. Between 2011 and 2016 she moved a number of times, including to London for a spell. Victoria Doramus spent another two months in a Connecticut rehab facility during this time. After leaving this facility she moved to New York with a determination to deal with her disease. Follow her on Instagram.
She ended up relying on herself too much instead of seeking out help. Victoria Doramus (@victoriadoramus) ended up homeless after burning all of her relationships including those with her family. She continued to use drugs and ended up getting arrested on Thanksgiving Day 2016. She realized she had to either get better and seek out help or she was going to die.
Victoria Doramus went to Burning Tree which is a recovery facility located in Austin, Texas. They forced her to acknowledge her destructive behaviors and see that she wasn’t a victim. She was in this facility from January 2017 until August of that year. She then spent time in a halfway house and has been working very hard ever since to stay away from drugs. More details can be read on her website.
