Nationwide’s Dave Giertz gave an explicit interview to shade light on why advisers should speak with their clients on matters to do with Social security. A survey conducted by Nationwide Retirement Institute indicated that the clients, who are mainly those who have had ten years since retirement, do not get to be advised on matters to do with Social Security. The survey also showed that 4 out of 5 people would change their advisors if they were not talking to them about the social security.
He outlined why it is important to talk to the clients about social security. The first reason is that in the retirement planning process social security could be up to 40 percent of that and this is a huge part that should not be ignored. Another reason is that social security helps the clients to optimize their retirement income and as such, they should get to understand everything to do with it so that they can make the right decisions.
