Dr. David Samadi: Leading the Way in Urology

Dr. David Samadi is one of the leading doctors in the nation on urological diseases and their treatments. Dr. Samadi is qualified to treat different forms of cancer within the urinary system, however, he specializes in the treatment of prostate cancer, finding advanced ways to treat the cancer while being minimally invasive. Treatment options include laparoscopic radical prostatectomy and laparoscopic robotic radical prostatectomy.

Dr. David Samadi was raised in Iran. When he was 15 after the Iranian revolution had ended, Dr. Samadi fled the nation in hopes of finding more growth opportunities elsewhere. He attended school in Belgium and London before coming to the United States. He completed high school in New York. He then attended Stony Brook University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry. He attended the university on a full scholarship. Next, he earned his M.D. from S.U.N.Y., Stony Brook School of Medicine in 1994. Continuing his education, Dr. Samadi completed his postgraduate training in urology at Montefiore Medical Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1996. Dr. Samadi also completed postgraduate training in proctology at Montefiore Medical Center in 2000.
Dr. Samadi is the leader in robotic surgery, performing more than 800 robotic laparoscopic procedures and over 7,000 robotic prostate surgeries.

He performs a surgery known as the Samadi Modified Advanced Robotic Technique, or SMART surgery, which can be performed in as little as 90 minutes. During the surgery, Dr. Samadi uses 8 steps for completely the surgery successfully. They are Dropping the bladder, Bladder neck transection, Posterior bladder neck transected, Seminal vesicle (SV) dissection, Posterior dissection/nerve spar sparing/ EPF incision, DVC/Apical dissection, Bladder neck reconstruction, and Urethrovesical anastomosis. An outstanding 84 percent of men who undergo this prostate surgery regain complete sexual function.

Dr. Samadi is known as a “celebrity doctor” because he is the host of Sunday House Call on the Fox News channel. He has his own radio show called World Health News and also writes articles on his blog. He has also been featured in Forbes magazine and has many other medical articles written about his work and his personal life. Dr. Samadi was a contributor in many articles written about former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney when it was revealed that he had undergone prostate surgery earlier this year. He determined that Romney’s prognosis after surgery was good and that he would make a full recovery. He has received many awards, most recently being voted the Best Urologist in New York for 2018.
